As small business owners, Terry, my husband, and I make every effort to support other local businesses whenever we can. In this spirit, I wondered if you have checked out our local radio station 105.5 Hits FM? It’s great! They have a nice mix of radio content and I am very impressed with the actual set up at the station. This week, I had the pleasure of being a guest of Dan Pollard in his Morning Den show speaking about ways to keep moving through the Holiday Season. Now this may seem early to be discussing this subject, however, Christmas is only a little over 2 months away now. Did you know that there’s an average weight gain of 5 lbs between Thanksgiving and New Year’s?? This is a scary thought (and yes, it’s no surprise there’s treat filled Halloween in that same period of time. Take a little listen to my live, unscripted interview from earlier this week that is a lead-in to a weekly segment on the subject that will air Tuesday mornings at 7:40 a.m. I wanted to share with you a little more of the history of Dan.
When I entered the radio studio, I watched in admiration as Dan navigated the modern equipment that brings the station to life with what seemed like natural ease. I was in awe as he kept on top of all the various elements and segments, blending them seamlessly into the wonderful finished product… a great show comprised of a wide variety of hit music from today as well as the 80’s and 90’s with quality local content of current news, sports, events, weather and of course advertising including our new NRG 4 Life ads.
After more than 30 years in broadcasting, Dan Pollard finally landed his dream job when 105.5 Hits FM took to the airwaves. After years of planning, the local radio station began broadcasting this past September, with Dan helming ‘The Morning Den’ as well as the Noon showcase of the day’s most popular songs.
After many years of promoting Uxbridge beyond its borders on radio as well as television with the CBC, Sportsnet, TSN and Q107, Dan is thrilled to be able to work from his hometown. Although the hours are long, with his typical day starting before 4 a.m., Dan says that the experience at 105.5 Hits FM hasn’t felt like work. He shares similar sentiments of mine…when you’re able to do something you’re passionate about, it’s true that it doesn’t feel like a job at all.
If you haven’t already tuned in to 105.5 Hits FM, I encourage you to check out Dan and his associates for their impressive coverage of this great area we call home and remember to catch my weekly countdown to a Healthier Holiday Season, Tuesdays at 7:40 a.m.!
