CERTIFIED FITNESS INSTRUCTOR
Katharine is a University of Toronto graduate specializing in Psychology and Music. She has completed the Fitness Ontario Leadership Program and taught fitness classes at U of T and Canadian Women’s Fitness. She also was elected to secretary of the U of T Athletic Association, where she organized intramural sports. From there, she completed the Canfitpro Fitness Instructor Specialist and two levels of Core Training.
She then worked for a pharmaceutical company in sales and marketing, deciding to stay home to raise her 3 boys; 2 have now graduated from the University of Ottawa and working full time, while the youngest heads into his 3rd year at Ryerson. After many years of staying at home, Katharine went back to work organizing large “Mud Hero” events. She now works as Event Facilitator for the York Durham Heritage Railway.
Katharine is very focused on her fitness and completed many ½ marathons, marathons, qualifying and completing the Boston Marathon. She eventually expanded her goals to complete in numerous triathlons, ½ and full Ironmans. She competed at a high level, becoming the Ontario Provincial Champion qualifying for the World Championships in New Zealand.
Katharine has also been a committed volunteer to the community; facilitating the Run for the Diamond for 7 years; an event raising money for the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Auxiliary. She has also been on the executive for the Uxbridge Minor Hockey Association where she spearheaded a dryland training program for Uxbridge rep hockey as well as for an Aurora rep soccer team. She has been an active member of the Greater Uxbridge Road Runners and the Uxbridge Cycling Club; organizing events such as UxCycle.
