I’ve learned first-hand that, even with the most drastic life changes, you can still continue your fitness journey. The destination and travel plan may change, but we can still strive to lead our happiest, healthiest lives given where we are. For example if you have little ones, some days it’s all you can do to get out of the house. A nice walk around the neighborhood can help keep you active without being too burdensome. On that note, we have our next edition of Mom & Baby Bootcamp starting the week after March Break (March 20th). The early bird rate ends February 28th. So check out our website or call for details.
Those 15+ trips up and down all the stairs in the house throughout the day or at work count for something, so rather than look at it like an inconvenience, embrace the fact you’re getting in more activity and why not challenge yourself to add 1 more flight each time you have to go upstairs. That’ll be double the amount of stairs in a day which will soon get your steps up (aim for 10 000/day)! Remember, it’s the little things, those small decisions that really add up. Like walking or biking across town to go shopping instead of driving. Make it a conscious effort and you’ll feel empowered. Change your mindset and you can change your life!
Go to Plan B – Maybe the high intensity workout DVD’s you bought at New Year’s are collecting dust in the basement?? Don’t feel defeated. To break the start/stop exercise roller coaster where you may have felt like a “failure” in the past for not sticking to it, change your mindset and remember that exercise is not a means to an end. Ditch the DVD’s & try something fun that you enjoy. Come out to Zumba! Besides Zumba is “exercise in disguise”. The time flies by and those international dance moves are great for your core! At NRG 4 Life, we offer Zumba Tuesday’s at 7pm and Fridays at 9am! You don’t even need to be a member to participate. Drop in’s are welcome!
Even when it seems like it’s the smallest thing (like actually making it to the gym for only 30 min’s), it should be celebrated. When you take steps toward your goals, no matter how many times those goals change, it should make you feel really, really good. You’re doing something to get yourself closer to the life you want. You’re taking the initiative to make a change to be that happy, healthy self you know you can be. And that, my friends, is no small accomplishment. Little steps add up to big progress, so just keep going!
How about a new goal like signing up for the Uxbridge ½ marathon? This even has something for everyone and you don’t have to run! Walk, run or walk/run the 5K, 10K, ½ marathon and a kids dash. NRG 4 Life and I know 105.5 Hits FM will be there sponsoring the event and we’ll be leading the warm up too! Follow this link http://uxbridgehalfmarathon.ca/ to register and feel good not only about having a new goal to work towards, but to be helping raise money for a great cause too…the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.
Help us here at NRG 4 Life to help “Strengthen Uxbridge ONE Person at a Time” at great community events like this!
